Many developers have unilaterally gone to the points system. In the process of doing so, they may have offered you some modest ‘credit’ for your deed, converting it to ‘points’. But the developer continues to sell points in the same finite number of units and accommodations, rather than building new facilities. This devalues existing points and diminishes your access to the resort(s). Thus your points become less and less valuable with each passing year. The points that got you to Maui last year may not even get you to Hoboken this year. Heck, you may not  even get to the backyard outhouse in time next.
